House Concurrent Resolution 22

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MANY UTILITY WORKERS FOR THEIR DEDICATION DURING OUTAGES CAUSED BY THE CHRISTMAS EVE ICE STORM OF 1998.
WHEREAS, on Christmas Eve, 1998, thousands of dedicated utility workers spent countless hours working to restore power to Mississippians with power outages caused by the ice storm; and
WHEREAS, giving up time with their families, these loyal utility workers spent their Christmas and New Year's vacations responding to the Christmas Eve ice storm; and
WHEREAS, while working in the rain and bitter cold, the utility workers of Mississippi, with the help of volunteers from across the country, were determined to restore power as soon as possible so Mississippians could enjoy their holidays; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature finds it most appropriate to recognize and pay special tribute to the thousands of men and women who gave generously of their time and efforts to make the holidays warmer and brighter for everyone:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the utility workers for their shining spirit and dedication to restoring the power to Mississippians during the Christmas and New Year's holidays.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That we do hereby extend our deepest appreciation to the utility workers, wishing them a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
